Meet Wellcoach Bonnie

 

Why did I choose to become a Wellness Coach?

I began my career in healthcare over 25 years ago, working with people like you — people who are busy working, raising a family, enjoying time with friends, and trying to fit time in for physical activity, all while trying to maintain good health and well-being. As a Registered Dietitian, I’ve provided nutrition counseling for hundreds of clients. This experience taught me that providing an individual with educational information is not enough to change and shape new health behaviors. I later became a Certified Personal Trainer and in the gym environment, I again found that when clients were presented with programs and suggestions to improve their physical fitness, they did not always following through between their training sessions. I intuitively knew there had to be a missing link between providing educational information and eliciting behavior change. That’s when I discovered Wellness Coaching and became a Certified Wellness Coach and a Licensed Wellcoach®.

I created Aspire 2 Wellness to combine my knowledge of health and wellness with coaching skills to assist people who want to lose weight, start or intensify their fitness activities, develop stress resilience, discover how healthier eating can increase their energy levels and decrease disease risks; and through the support of a wellness coach, empower them to make their desired changes.

I’ve experienced many challenges that have tested my ability to maintain my well-being: a demanding management career in corporate settings; working full-time while attending school; caring for aging parents; moving into new careers; owning a home-based business; frequent moves including living and working in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Canada.

I understand the demands that interfere with desires to change lifestyles that will lead to a more energetic, healthier, and happier person. Through coaching, obstacles (real and perceived), can be minimized or circumvented through individualized strategies that produce results.

During our coaching sessions, I can offer you a safe place to share concerns and receive non-judgmental feedback, offer knowledge and advice (by permission), and stimulate your thinking to foster your own actions toward obtaining greater wellness. My purpose is to serve you to find your intrinsic motivation, feed that flame of desire through our coaching dialogs, and let you combine the knowledge I’ve shared with your own successful actions to bring you closer to your goals.

 

What are my Qualifications?

  • Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Western International University
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition from the State University of New York of Buffalo
  • Registered Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association
  • Certificate from the American Dietetic Association in Adult Weight Management; specializing in adult weight management for women who want to stop ‘dieting’ and develop a new “weigh to success” through lifestyle, education, activities, relationships, and nutrition
  • Certification as a Personal Trainer from the National Council on Strength and Fitness
  • Certified Wellness Coach and Licensed Wellcoach®

My education and over twenty-five years’ experience working in the various settings of hospitals, physician offices, nutrition clinics, and fitness centers, has prepared me to offer you the knowledge, compassion, challenge and support to make the changes you desire for increased well-being.

The professional organizations and affiliations which I actively belong to, offer me continuing, up to date information and trends related to health and wellness issues, which are shared with my clients and subscribers to Aspire 2 Wellness.
